Recorded live with microphones, using my Hauptwerk Organs plus midi modules:
(Recorded dry with no reverb added)

My purpose in posting these mp3 recordings on my home organ is to give listeners an idea of what this sort of multi-speaker approach to a home organ sounds like.

A conclusion that many Hauptwerk users came to on the Forum was that there should be an increased clarity and fullness in sound when using many speakers, as opposed to mixing everything digitally down into just two stereo channels.

The set-up used here consists of a number of midi organ modules (Ahlborn, ASR-10, and Viscount) plus two Hauptwerk computer organs (my HW1 custom organ and the HW2 Virginia Theatre Organ). The stops from these units are distributed to 34 separate speakers.

Many of the recorded pieces use only 2-manuals and very light registrations. This is to demo the various sounds (as noted in the comments for each piece). Even the larger scale pieces rarely use more than 15 - 20 stops. The idea is to route each stop to a separate speaker system for clarity.

I'm actually very impressed with the wonderful, gentle celesting that occurs when mixing these sounds in the air, rather than digitally.  By the way, I've left on the full blower noise from the Virginia Theatre Organ. That can be heard in the background.

For the best listening, I highly recommend using good headphones. When listening to these pieces with my Sennheiser HD 600 phones, I hear a sound that is identical to the real thing (minus the ultra low bass, of course).

Bach, JS - Choral - An Wasseflussen Babylon - 6-03-2006

Bach, JS - Choral - In Dulci Jubilo - 6-12-2006
Comments: A whole lot of stops were used here. The idea is to demo the HW1 64' Contre Fagotto which I created from a 32' reed. This is definitely not a light registration version of Bach.

3.53

Bach, JS - Toccata (and not the Fugue) in D minor - 6-12-2006
Comments: As with "In Dulci Jubilo" a whole lot of stops were used here. The idea again is to demo the HW1 64' Contre Fagotto which I created from a 32' reed. The pedal reeds range through 64', 32', 16', 8', and 4'.

Comments: A two manual piece with some thin, but sweet sounding upper-work.

4.59

Star Spangled Banner - 6-03-2006
Comments: This piece was originally midi'ed for piano and trumpet. I extracted a pedal part and worked the rest over for organ as well as I could. It's a bit choppy, but sounds good anyway.
The first verse uses all ASR-10 8' and 4' bourdons and prestants on the manuals with the pedal from the Ahlborn 200 Module 16' Soubasse and Viscount 8' Principal.
The second verse uses the Virginia Theatre Organ stops with trem (no pedal).
The third verse uses HW1, Ahlborn 200 Module, and ASR-10 stops.
The final verse pretty much uses a few stops from all the modules.

8.42
