SILBERMANN ORGAN AUDIO DEMOs

SILBERMANN ORGAN - 11.0 MB

The diapasons of the organ are demonstrated by pitch and by manual. Short improvised sound bites follow my narratives. This file ends with a demo of the Trompetas from the Litomysl Organ and the hymn "Fairest Lord Jesus" using full Great and Pedal with these wonderful, magnificant reeds.

The Lexicon 400 is set to: #4 Concert Hall (about a 2 second decay)

SILBERMANN DIAPASONS - 13.7 MB

This file is actually the second take of the first one, but consists of demos of only the diapasons. The hymn "Fairest Lord Jesus" is again played but with diapasons only. The format is the same, though the sound bites are different.

The Lexicon 400 is set to: #4 Concert Hall (about a 2 second decay)

SILBERMANN FLUTES - 10.1 MB

The Silbermann flutes are demonstrated here, again by pitch and division. Comments are followed by short sound bites. Finally, the Positiv Principal 8' and Quintadena 8' with the Pedal Subbass 16' and Gedackt 8' are used to play the hymn "Didst Thou, Dear Jesus, Pray For Me?"

The Lexicon 400 is set to: #4 Concert Hall (about a 2 second decay)

SILBERMANN REEDS - 12.4 MB

The various reeds are demonstrated. The only reeds that were part of the Milan Silbermann organs were the Posaune 16' and Trommete 8' on the Pedal. I have added eight reeds from other sample sets (see below for more on that). Again comments are followed by sound bites of the particular reed being played. This demo ends with the full Great and Pedal, with the Trompetas, playing the Navy Hymn: "Eternal Father, Strong to Save."

The Lexicon 400 is set to:#4 Concert Hall (about a 2 second decay)

Ain't She Sweet? - 2.01 MB

This is an old "pop" tune I enjoy playing on the Silbermann since the organ's articulation is so wonderful. The sound is rather band organ like.

The Lexicon 400 is set to: #2 Smallish Space (about a 1 second decay)

So What's New? - 1.86 MB

Another old standard that shows what this instrument is like when playing non-classical music. Neither of these two pop pieces use the reeds since I recorded them before I added the third computer with it's collection of reed stops.

The Lexicon 400 is set to: #2 Smallish Space (about a 1 second decay)

Comments:

March 11, 2007:
The organ is recorded using non-professional quality microphones. The recordings sound pretty good.
In other words, the actual sound of the organ is noticeably better live.
The microphones do not pick up the good, low bass, unfortunately. It is really there though!
The organ is in the organ room in my home. Photos are here.
The organ is mostly HW1 ranks imported into HW2.

The Organ Sample Sets Used:

The HW1 Silbermann Georgenkirche Organ from Milan Digital Audio (all ranks)
The HW1 Silbermann Marienkirche Organ from Milan Digital Audio (all ranks)
The HW2 Litomysl Concert Organ from Sonus Paradisi (the Trompetas)
The HW1 St. Johannes Organ from Prospectum (Dulzian and Rankett)
The HW1 Ott-Orgel (Gedackt 8' and Rohrflőte 4' on the Great)
The HW1 Casavant Organ from Milan Digital Audio (the Clarion 4' on the Pedal)
The HW1 Buzard Organ from Milan Digital Audio (the Krummhorn 8' on the Swell)
